Preview Dundee United vs St Mirren

Dundee United v St Mirren

It's hard not to describe this as the game of the day - it is such a crucial match for both teams.

Both teams are fighting a battle to avoid relegation and this game could go a long way to deciding who avoids the drop and who doesn't.

Dundee United are above the Buddies on goal difference at the moment and United also have a game in hand.

The recent signs have been against St Mirren - they've been playing well in games but they can't put the ball in the back of the net.

That is classic relegation form.

United, on the other hand, have been improving lately and it looks like they might have turned things round.

At one stage, the boot was on the other foot and if St Mirren had been able to put a few results together, they could have been out of sight by now.

But they couldn't and I think they could be in bigger trouble by Saturday evening, although even a draw would be a good result for them.

Team news

Dundee United: On-loan Wimbledon striker Paul Robinson could be in line for a start after coming off the bench last week. David Partridge and Hasney Aljofree are ruled out.

St Mirren: Barry McLaughlin, Gary Bowman and Paul McKnight all return, but Ian Ross and Tom Brown are still out through injury.
